“My work is a love letter to the mess — to what’s broken, blooming, and becoming.”

Welcome to the gallery.
Each piece you see here holds a story — some whispered from memory, others splashed from intuition. I work in watercolor, gouache, acrylic, texture mediums and ink, layering texture and emotion to explore wonder, healing, and the beauty of imperfection.
This collection includes botanicals, abstracts, illustrated worlds, and playful pieces born from muddy hands and childlike hearts.
If something here speaks to you, feel free to contact me for more information about originals, commissions, or future print availability.

These pieces are love letters to place — mountains, meadows, rivers, and skies that hold memory, movement, and mystery. A softer palette, a steady hand, a deep exhale.

Wild eyes, soft hearts. These creatures are more than portraits — they’re companions, messengers, and pieces of the wild we carry inside us. Each one painted with reverence and love, whether feathered, furred, or imagined.

What’s visible. What’s underneath. This one feels like holding your breath.

Whimsy with roots. These pieces come from story drafts, commissions, daydreams, and quiet mornings at the table. They carry playful hearts, soft palettes, and a deep love for wonder. This is where fine art meets storytelling — where every brushstroke has a voice.

Welcome
My work lives in many forms — from muddy children’s book illustrations to soft botanicals, messy abstracts, tender pet portraits, and symbolic art for healing and guidance.
I use watercolor, gouache, pen, and intuition to tell visual stories that celebrate play, grief, hope, and magic. I experiment with texture using molding paste, sand, and other miscellaneous texture mediums. Explore by category below.

Hi, I’m Natasha Ruby.I’m an artist, writer, and recovering perfectionist who paints stories that grow from the mud—messy, wondrous, and full of healing. Whether I’m illustrating a pair of koala siblings in rainboots, exploring the world with the child I nanny, or creating oracle decks inspired by birds and stars, I believe in the magic of art as a bridge — between generations, between souls. This site is home to the creative worlds I’m crafting. I’m so glad you’re here.
